Sky Blue FC Monday announced the details for Pucks at the Pitch, which will be a hockey-themed night at Yurcak Field when the National Women’s Soccer League team hosts Portland Thorns FC Saturday, July 21 at 7 p.m.
In attendance will be the 2017-18 National Women’s Hockey League champion Metro Riveters, who will also have the Isobel Cup with them. Three Stanley Cup champions with the New Jersey Devils will appear as Bruce Driver, Ken Daneyko and Grant Marshall are confirmed. Another special guest for the fans in attendance will be the NJ Devil mascot.
“This is going to be a really fun evening with the Metro Riveters and New Jersey Devils,” Sky Blue FC president and general manager Tony Novo said. “We encourage everyone to come out and celebrate these great athletes who helped bring home championships to the State of New Jersey. As a club, we also want to thank Peter Grandich and Company for playing a key role in making this special night happen.”
Once gates open at 6 p.m., the Riveters and Devils players will sign autographs and taking photos with fans on the Yurcak Field concourse. Prior to kickoff, Sky Blue FC will have the three Devils on the field as honorary captains. The Riveters will be celebrated for their NWHL championship during halftime with a special ceremony.
