NEW YORK — Danny Szetela scored twice — on either side of halftime — to pace Cosmos B to a 4-1 victory over the New York Athletic Club in National Premier Soccer League action at Commisso Stadium Saturday night.
Wojciech Wojcik and Joey Sanchez also scored for Cosmos B, which improved to 6-0 this season. NYAC (2-1-0) suffered its first loss of the season.
Goalkeeper Kevin Tenjo, who rarely touched the ball, was credit with the clean sheet.
There were no official possessions stats, but if there were, Cosmos B would have enjoyed a sizable number they dominated the game so much.
It paid off in the 19th minute when Woeijeich Wojcik headed home a left-wing cross from point-blank range past goalkeeper Jared Mazzola.
Six minute later, the hosts were celebrating again, this time as Joseph Sanchez slotted home a feed from the right flank for a 2-0 lead.
In the 45th minute, Szetela tallied his first of the night, sending a laser of a shot from outside the area into the right corner for a 3-0 halftime advantage.
Seven minutes into the second half, the Clifton, N.J. native added to his spoils with a penalty kick to the lower right corner after Wojcik was fouled in the box.
Goalkeeper Kevin Tenjo, who rarely touched the ball or tested, lost his shutout bid in the 70th minute. Charlie Crane fed Travis Blair in the middle of the box and he slotted the ball home.
