Four goals from Kiere Dashnow and a goal by Kaleigh West led Alleycats 2005 to a 5-0 victory over the Smithtown Ambush to win the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association Girls Under-13 State Cup Open Cup final at Stringham Park in LaGrange, N.Y.

The Alleycats perform in the Capital District Youth Soccer League, the Ambush in the Long Island Junior Soccer League.

“Our experience made the difference,” Alleycats coach Skip Dawson said. “The other team got tired in the second half and I thought both goalkeepers were outstanding.”

Goalkeeper Victoria Rollins recorded the shutout.

Alleycats also earned the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award, as determined by the game officials. Amoroso, a U.S. Soccer Life Member who died in 2016, started the LIJSL Sportsmanship Program in 1980 and it spread to Eastern New York, ENYYSAnationally and then to China and Ireland.
