ROCHESTER, N.Y. — For the second time this season, the Rochester Lady Lancers were forced to settle for a draw in United Women’s Soccer action Sunday.

The hosts grabbed a one-goal halftime lead, but the Long Island Rough Riders equalized in the second half as the team played to a 1-1 tie at Marina Auto Stadium.

The result left Rochester (5 points) with a 1-1-2 mark, while Long Island (4) moved to 1-1-1.

Assistant coach Brooke Barbuto lifted the Lancers into a 1-0 lead by converting a penalty kick in the 27th minute after she was taken down in the box by goalkeeper Kelsey Daugherty. Barbuto fired her shot to the right of Daugherty.

The Rough Riders knotted things up in the 73rd minute when a long free kick bounced over the head of Lancers goalkeeper Katie Broderick as Laura Gomez tallied from close range.
