Boca Raton FC forward Matheus Ayrolla has been selected as the National Premier Soccer League player of the week.

Ayrolla scored four goals in a 4-0 win over Storm FC.

“It’s humbling to receive the national player of the week award,” Ayrolla said. “I’m thankful to the Boca Raton FC organization and the coaching staff for putting their trust in me and giving me the opportunity to defend the crest proudly. I couldn’t do this without my teammates, and we will continue to work hard and get better every game as we look ahead to a tough matchup this weekend.”

Ayrolla leads the Sunshine Conference with six goals. Boca Raton is 2-2-0 with six points.

“This award is a testament to Matheus’ work ethic,” Boca Raton FC head coach Jim Rooney said. “Matheus is a great player who always has the right attitude towards the goals he has. He has been an integral part of our offense this season and we will continue to rely on his goal-scoring abilities as we navigate the second half of the NPSL season.”

Ayrolla was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He played for Lynn University while receiving an Associate Degree in mass communication. Ayrolla signed with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers Under-23 NPSL team in 2016 before going to Brazil to play professionally for Friburguense. Ayrolla returned to the United States in 2018 to play with Boca Raton FC.

“Since I began working with Matheus I knew he had the potential to be a great player and this recognition is just the start,” Boca Raton FC assistant coach Villy Washington said. “Matheus is a hard worker and we will continue to work hard in tapping into the best potential he has.”

The winner is determined by a vote of media members from across the country. It is awarded every week during the regular season.
