ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Austin Giorgio of suburban Rochester and a contestant on The Voice, will sing the national anthem not once, but twice Sunday.

The Webster, N.Y. native will give his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner prior to a pair of home opening soccer games at Marina Auto Stadium. He will sing it before the Lady Lancers and Lancers games.

The Lady Lancers will meet the Connecticut Fusion in a United Women’s Soccer match at 2 p.m., followed by the Lancers taking on Erie Commodores FC at 5 p.m.

Giorgio, a SUNY Geneseo senior, was not the first local contestant to appear on The Voice, but he has enjoyed the most success. The 21-year-old crooner was a member of Team Blake Shelton on Season 14 of the NBC show. This will be Austin Giorgio’s first singing appearance since appearing on the show.

“We are excited to have Austin as our honorary captain, and thrilled to have him sing the national anthem at both the lady’s and men’s games this Sunday,” Lancers director of doccer operations Kayla Klark Kent-Moreira said. “Austin will be available for both photo and autograph opportunities during the games.”

The Lady Lancers are undefeated after recording points in both of their away games last weekend against the New England Mutiny and the Worcester Smiles. Player-assistant coach Brooke Barbuto, who was named UWS player of the week, registered three three goals and one assist last weekend.

The first 500 fans will receive a stadium seat cushion. American flags also will be distributed for Memorial Day. There also will be live band for pre-game and post-game entertainment. T-shirt tosses, Frisbee toss, beach ball toss will be done throughout the games. A Kids Zone will feature a bounce house, games and the Lancers ,ascot – Lancer Louie.
