If reports are correct, then Patrick Vieira will be running the show at Nice in France Ligue 1.
L’Equipe reported Tuesday that the New York City FC head coach and his agent have flown to his native country to finalize a contract to replace Lucien Favre as Nice boss.
The headline in the paper said:
Nice: Patrick Vieira should succeed Lucien Favre
Vieira, 41, reportedly has been offered a two-year contract. He started his career with Cannes, only 20 miles from Nice, in 1994.
Since taking over the coaching reins of NYCFC from Jason Kreis, Vieira has guided and improved the MLS immensely after its dismal inaugural 2015 MLS season.
Vieira also has been linked to Arsenal in the English Premier League, at which he starred years ago.
Coming off a solid 4-0 home victory over the Colorado Rapids Saturday, NYCFC (7-2-3, 24 points) sits second in the Eastern Conference, a point behind Atlanta United FC (8-3-1, 25).
NYCFC visits the Houston Dynamo Friday night.
