Seattle Reign FC forward Megan Rapinoe was voted the National Women’s Soccer League player of the week by the NWSL Media Association, it was announced Tuesday.

Rapinoe, 32, scored her third and fourth goals of the season – including the game-winning goal – to lead Reign FC to a 4-1 home victory over Sky Blue FC on UW Medicine Pitch at Memorial Stadium. With a 4-1-1 record and 13 points, Seattle is in second place.

The Redding, CA native helped her team double their lead in the 38th minute after Reign FC defender Steph Catley served a ball into the box that was deflected by a Sky Blue FC defender. Gathering the loose ball, Rapinoe hit a curling shot over Sky Blue FC goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan and into the back of the net. (Watch highlights)

The U.S. international added her second goal of the game in the 60th minute as she received a beautiful pass out on the left wing from midfielder Nahomi Kawasumi. Bringing down the pass, Rapinoe dribbled at the defender before cutting back onto her right foot and firing a shot into the far side netting for a 3-0 advantage.

The University of Portland product played 66 minutes against the New Jersey side in Week 7 and finished with a team-high seven shots, three of which were on target, according to Opta.

It is the sixth time Rapinoe has been honored as the NWSL player of the week and the 21st time a member of Reign FC has won the award. She is now tied for the most NWSL Player of the Week awards with North Carolina Courage forward Crystal Dunn.

Seattle Reign FC will return to action Saturday, May 19 at 10 p.m. ET against the Chicago Red Stars on UW Medicine Pitch at Memorial Stadium in Seattle.

The NWSL player of the week is selected each week of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis.
