If you’re not doing anything Wednesday night, you might want to catch a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game.

In and around the metropolitan area, there are three matches of interest.

Let’s start in Madison, N.J., where FC Motown (National Premier Soccer League) hosts the Red Bulls Under-23 team (Premier Development League) at Rangers Stadium on the campus of Drew University at 7 p.m.

Let’s go slightly east to Brooklyn, where the Brooklyn Italians (NPSL) will welcome Lansdowne Bhoys (Cosmopolitan Soccer League) at the LIU Brooklyn Athletic Complex at 8 p.m.

And let’s go further east to Massapequa, N.Y. on Long Island, where the Long Island Rough Riders (PDL) will take on Kingston Stockade FC (NPSL) at Burns Park at 7 p.m.

Another team from New York, the Rochester River Dogz from upstate, will visit Erie Commodores at Gannon University soccer field at 7 p.m.

Looking ahead

The winner of the Brooklyn-Lansdowne encounter will travel to Cary, N.C. to meet North Carolina FC (United Soccer League) at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park May 16 at 7 p.m.

If FC Motown emerges victorious, the NPSL club will take on Penn FC (USL) at Drew University May 16 at 7 p.m.

If the Red Bulls U-23s win, they will meet Penn FC at the Red Bull Training Facility May 16 at 7:30 p.m.
