ANNVILLE, Pa. – Ed Gaffney, a 1970 graduate who was a member of the Hofstra University men’s soccer and baseball teams, has been inducted into the Middle Atlantic Conferences Hall of Fame, it was announced Tuesday.
Gaffney is one of 16 members of the MAC Hall of Fame Class of 2018, the seventh group to be inducted.
In his time at Hofstra, Gaffney became the first All-American in Hofstra men’s soccer history, scoring a school-record 19 goals to lift the Pride to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1968 after taking home the MAC Northern Division and MAC overall titles. He followed up with 18 goals in 1969, and was named an All-MAC Northern Division selection in both 1968 and 1969. He finished his two-year career with 37 goals, which ranks fourth in program history, and 10 assists for 84 points.
Gaffney played baseball for the Pride in 1970, leading the team with 18 stolen bases in 24 games.
Gaffney was inducted into the Hofstra Hall of Fame in 2009. After graduating from Hofstra, he has been an educator at the high school and collegiate level, as well as a strategic planning and corporate team development specialist, an executive coach and a speaker at national and international conferences.
