TORONTO — In frigid conditions at the end of April, Red Bull II played Toronto FC to a scoreless draw in United Soccer League action Saturday night.
The draw extended NYRB II’s (3-1-3, 12 points) unbeaten streak to five matches while the hosts moved to 0-4-2.
The visitors could have scored on the hour when Armando Moreno was taken down in the penalty area. But Stefano Bonomo’s attempt was saved by goalkeeper Caleb Patterson-Sewell.
Red Bulls Academy product Chris Lema made his first career USL start, going the full 90.
New York’s best chance of the first half came in the 38th minute in what looked to be the opening goal of the match from Moreno but the referee ruled a handball and issued him a yellow card.
Goalkeeper Evan Louro went virtually untested making three saves and recording the team’s clean sheet of the season.
NYRB II will continue its road trip in Canada, facing the Ottawa Fury FC Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
