New York City FC Sunday will attempt a feat it hasn’t been called on to do this MLS season.

The team will try to bounce back after a loss for the first time this year, against FC Dallas at Yankee Stadium at 6:30 p.m. ET.

City (5-1-2, 17 points) dropped its game last Sunday, a 3-0 decision at the Portland Timbers.

“It’s going to be a really good test for us to see how we can bounce back after our defeat to Portland,” NYCFC head coach Patrick Vieira said.

“We learned a lot after that game about the strength of our team, how we can bounce back, how we can perform. We want to take something from that game. Of course, we need to be at our best.”

NYCFC will attempt to duplicate what Portland had accomplished last, sending an unbeaten team to a defeat for the first time this season. FC Dallas is 3-0-3.

But FC Dallas’ record “doesn’t matter at all” to Vieira said.

“I know that game will be difficult for us, because Dallas is a really good team,” he said. “But at the same time, it’s going to be really important for us to react.”

Last Saturday FC Dallas got goals from second-half subs to register a 2-0 home win.

“It’s going to be another tough game,” Vieira said. “They played quite well against [Philadelphia]. They got the result that they wanted to.”
