BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Western New York Flash Saturday announced the addition of three internationals weeks before the start of the United Women’s Soccer season.

The club signed Georgia Allen, Taylor Bennett and Charlotte Williams.

“We couldn’t be more excited about adding some key pieces to go along with our strong roster,” Flash head coach Matt Waddington said. “The addition of these three players will just add another dimension of experience and talent to an already explosive roster. We are three weeks away from our first games and are thrilled for the players to start coming into town so they can jump right into the intense training environment that has been created by our players.”

Allen (Suffolk, England) stars at Syracuse University and will compete for England’s Under-20 women’s national team at the U-20 World Cup in August. Allen has also logged minutes for England’s U-19 squad and served as the captain of England’s U-17 team.

Bennett (Ithaca, N.Y.) also plays for Syracuse University and has competed with the United States U-18 national team. Taylor was named a first team All-State selection in four of her six years playing at Dryden High School.

Williams (Rochester, N.Y.) was a third team All-Big Ten player for Penn State and has played for the U.S. U-23 women’s national team. She was selected as a four-time All-State Class A honoree at Brighton High School.

“When you can add players that have competed at the highest level of soccer representing their national teams, it is an impressive accomplishment and we can’t wait to get started,” Waddington said. “All three players will bring added levels of experience and leadership to this squad.”

The Flash will kick off the UWS season at the Long Island Rough Riders Saturday, May 17. The team will play a game against the New York Surf Sunday, May 18 before returning home for its June 2 home opener against the Rough Riders at D’Youville College.
