HOUSTON — Forward Crystal Dunn scored for the second consecutive game to help the North Carolina Courage to a 2-0 victory over the Houston Dash at BBVA Compass Stadium Saturday.

North Carolina remained unbeaten at 5-0-1 and atop the National Women’s Soccer League.

Dunn, a Rockville Centre, N.Y. native found the net in the third minute.

Jess McDonald sent a long throw-in directly into the Dash’s penalty area where Dunn was waiting to capitalize. She placed her shot past Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell to put the Courage up, 1-0.

Dunn and Lynn Williams vied for more goals in the 68th and 79th minutes, respectively, but Campbell came up with important saves.

“Today we were in control of the game,” Courage head coach Paul Riley said. “That was our best performance of the season for the full 90 minutes. Anytime you’re away from home in this league and get three points, it’s obviously been a successful day. I feel like they’re maturing into a really good team now.”
