BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – Perhaps the third time will be the charm.
Sky Blue FC (0-2-0, 0 points) again will try to win its first game of the season as it visits the Chicago Red Stars (2-1-1, 7) at Toyota Park at 8 p.m. ET Saturday ( go90).
“We are building something, and from each game we have improved in many areas,” Sky Blue FC head coach Denise Reddy. “I was very happy with our second half performance against Seattle where we dominated possession, especially in their half of the field. Now we are looking to put together the pieces in the final third to be more productive and create better opportunities. For me, it is not about the amount of shots and is more about the quality of the opportunities.”
Sky Blue FC dropped a 1-0 result to Seattle Reign FC at Yurcak Field under some incredibly difficult weather in its National Women’s Soccer League home openr last Sunday. The lone goal came in the sixth minute, where Megan Rapinoe capitalized on a penalty kick.
The Red Stars will have a quick turnaround after defeated the Houston Dash at Toyota Park Wednesday night. Chicago got on the board in the seventh minute via an own goal, adding a second goal four minutes later on a Lauren Kaskie finish.
