UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Cosmos B’s National Premier Soccer League season will start a little earlier than anticipated.

Due to scheduling conflicts with the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the Boston City F.C.-Cosmos B match has been moved from Saturday, May 5 to Sunday, April 29 at 6 p.m. at Harry Della Russo Stadium.

Cosmos B meet the Brooklyn Italians in a Open Cup play-in match at Long Island University Brooklyn Sunday, May 6 at 8 p.m.

“The scheduling conflict created by the Open Cup play-in round was a challenge for all involved,” Cosmos COO Erik Stover said. “We want to thank Boston City and the NPSL for helping us resolve this situation.”

“The quest to advance in the U.S. Open Cup is important and while we are not involved in the competition this year, it makes sense for us to help an NPSL club represent the league with the best chance of success,” Boston City FC managing director Craig Tornberg said.  “Our coach Palhinha and players are particularly excited about opening our season a week earlier as they have been looking forward to this match up.

The Cosmos, who cancelled their April 28 preseason match against the Atlantic City Aces, will meet LIU Post in Brookville, N.Y. Saturday at 1 p.m.
