UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Cosmos B signed defender-midfielder Garrett Halfhill and goalkeeper Macklin Robinson, the National Premier Soccer League club announced Tuesday.

Halfhill played with FC Cincinnati as a defender and central midfielder, while Robinson performed with North Carolina FC in the United Soccer League.

“Garrett is an athletic guy with some versatility,” Cosmos B head coach Carlos Mendes said. “He needs to get minutes to continue to improve and he might be able to do that with us at a couple of positions.”

The 24-year-old Halfhill attended Xavier University, appearing in 84 matches during his four-year college career. He was signed by FC Cincinnati last May from the Cincinnatti Dutch Lions (Premier Development League) and appeared in three matches.

“I’m really looking forward to this opportunity with the Cosmos,” Halfhill said. “I plan to work hard for playing time, but there’s also so much to learn from Carlos. He started his career as a defensive midfielder and switched to center back. I think we’ll have a lot in common.”

Robinson, also 24, formerly played at Old Dominion University and De Paul University.

“He’s our first official signing at goalkeeper,” Mendes said. “He’s a young guy by goalkeeping standards and he has potential. We expect him to compete for the starting position.”
