The Red Bulls have lost the services of defender Kyle Duncan for the forseeable future.
The defender suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the Red Bulls match in the 4-3 loss at Saturday Orlando City SC, the club announced Tuesday.
Duncan will have surgery to repair the tear in the coming weeks.
A timetable for his return will be established after his surgery, although ACL injuries usually take months from which to recover.
The 20-year-old Duncan, a product of the Red Bulls Academy. returned to New York and signed an MLS contract in February after spending two years with FC Valenciennes in France.
He appeared in all four Major League Soccer games this season, recording his first league assist in the 3-0 home victory over Minnesota United FC.
