Cosmos B will take on a familiar opponent in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play-in round – the Brooklyn Italians.

Its opponent was determined in a draw at U.S. Soccer House in Chicago Monday.

The date, time and venue will be determined this week, the Cosmos said, though the game is expected to be played May 5-6. Cosmos B is scheduled to open its National Premier Soccer League season at Boston City May 5.

Brooklyn and Cosmos B play in the Atlantic Blue Conference of the NPSL.

During the regular season, Cosmos B are scheduled to host Brooklyn in its home opener at Hofstra Soccer Stadium May 15 at 8 p.m.

Miami FC 2 will meet FC Miami City (NPSL) in another play-in match as will Jacksonville Armada SC against Villages SC (Premier Development League), located northwest of Orlando.

U.S. Soccer’s Open Cup committee Friday granted permission to three NPSL teams — Jacksonville Armada, Miami FC 2 and Cosmos B — to participate in the committee. They had until 4 p.m. ET Monday to let the federation know they would play.
