Former Cosmos defender Jimmy Mulligan has resurfaced in Portland.

Mulligan has signed with T2, the Portland Timbers’ United Soccer League affiliate, for this season.

The 26-year-old outside back became the 16th Cosmos to find another team since the end of the 2017 North American Soccer League season. The NASL has decided to go on hiatus this year.

The one-time St. John’s University standout and Medford, N.Y. native played for the Cosmos under current Timbers head coach Giovanni Savarese from 2014-17.

For the Cosmos, Mulligan started 63 games over 69 appearances, scoring once. He was a member of two NASL championship teams in 2015 and 2016.

Mulligan has played in the USL before, performing for the Swope Park Rangers as a loan player in 2016.

T2 will open its season at Seattle Sounders FC 2 at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Wash. Friday at 10 p.m. ET.

The game will be available on a live web stream at www.timbers2.com.
