The Red Bulls will meet Chivas in the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals next month.
The Guadalajara-based team defeated Seattle Sounders FC, 3-0, in the second leg of its quarterfinal series Wednesday night. Seattle had won the first leg, 1-0.
New York will visit Chivas in the first leg of the semifinals April 3-5 and host the Mexican side April 10-12. The Red Bulls won their series with Tijuana, 5-1, after recording a 3-1 victory at Red Bull Arena Tuesday night.
Toronto FC will play Club America in the other semifinal series.
As per regulations, thr club that has accumulated the most points through the four matches of the round of 16 and quarterfinals will host the second leg.
Therefore, Club America (3-1-0, 10 points) will host the return leg of its series with Toronto FC (2-1-1, 7), and New York Red Bulls (3-1-0, 10) will host the second leg of the other semifinal vs. CD Guadalajara (3-0-1, 9).
The CCL is broadcast in the U.S. in Spanish by Univision Deportes on UDN and its digital platforms and in the U.S. in English on Verizon media properties, including the go90 platform, as well as other rights partners across the confederation.
The range of dates the home-and-away final series are set for the last two weeks of April. The CCL winner will represent the region in the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
