ROUND TWO: U.S. women square off vs. France in SheBelieves Cup at RBA

Next stop, Red Bull Arena.

After riding a first-half goal from Megan Rapinoe to a 1-0 victory aover Germany in a match played in harsh weather conditions in Columbus, Ohio Thursday, the U.S. women’s national team will focus on a clash with France in the 2018 SheBelieves Cup in Harrison, N.J. Sunday.

Temperatures are expected to be cold at RBA when the U.S. and France meet on March 4 at Red Bull Arena (noon ET, ESPN2), but not as windy or snowy as the first game of the competition.

Germany and England will play the second match (3 p.m. ET, ESPN3) of a doubleheader that will go a long way in determining who is in the driver’s seat for the SheBelieves Cup title heading into the final match day in Orlando March 7. The U.S.-France match marks the first time in the three SheBelieves Cup tournaments that the USA will play in the first match of the day.

With England’s rousing 4-1 win over France in the first match of the tournament Thursday, the Three Lionesses sit in first place on goal difference. England’s four goals, and three in the first half, set a SheBelieves Cup record for most goals in a game and a half, respectively.

All the U.S. games of the tournament also arebeing streamed live on ESPN3 and the ESPN App. The most elite four-team women’s international tournament in the world features four of the top six teams in the current FIFA Women’s World Rankings: No. 1 USA, No. 2 Germany, No. 3 England and No. 6 France.

Three of the four coaches in the tournament are women: USA’s Jill Ellis, Corinne Diacre of France and Steffi Jones from Germany. The tournament marked the debut of new England head coach Phil Neville, the former Manchester United and Everton star and England international defender, who got off to a bright start in his side’s opening game.
