New York City FC center back Maxime Chanot and defensive midfielder Alex Ring have received green cards, which has freed up two international player spots for this Major League Soccer season.

As permanent residents of the United States, the two players will no longer occupy international player spots. Translated: NYCFC has 10 players for 10 interntional player slots.

Each MLS club starts with eight international spots for a season. But due to thanks Wednesday’s GAM trade with Philadelphia Union and the transaction that saw center back Frederic Brillant dealt to D.C. United, NYCFC has 10 spots.
