FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas must have a thing for Cosmos goalkeepers.

In December, the Major League Soccer side signed Jimmy Maurer to a contract.

On Wednesday, the club inked Kyle Zobeck.

Both keepers played on the 2017 North American Soccer League team. With the team’s and league’s future uncertain, many of the squad’s players decided to sign with other teams.

“Excited to have signed with @FCDallas!,” Zobeck wrote on Twitter. “Looking forward to a great season #ChallengeAll

Zobeck, 28, was selected by FC Dallas in the second round of the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft. He joined the Cosmos prior to the 2014 season and made his professional debut against Minnesota United Aug. 23, 2014. Zobeck finished that season with a 1-2-1 record.

In 2015, the 6-foot, 180-lb. Zobeck won a National Premier Soccer League championship with Cosmos B.

He played four seasons at Valparaiso, where he put together the best goalkeeping season in program history as a redshirt junior in 2011. The Coralville, Iowa native posted a 0.66 goals-against average in 20 matches, registering 51 saves and 11 shutouts. In his Crusaders career, Zobeck played in 53 matches, recording 185 saves and 19 clean sheets.
