New Jersey Copa FC continued to bulk up for the National Premier Soccer League season, signing center midfielder Gerald Cubero Wednesday.
He will return for his second season with the club.
“I’m very excited to be signing with NJCFC and playing another NPSL season with this amazing club!” Cubero said. “Last season was very successful, and I’m ready to work my hardest and achieve big things with the support of COPA Nation this upcoming season.”
Cubero was a starter for nearly every game for NJCopaFC and earned player of the match honors after an impressive game against Greater Binghamton. Behind his offensive creativity in the midfield, Cubero helped the team to the Keystone Conference regular season championship and a conference finalist finish.
“Gerald is an incredible talent,” head coach Roberto Aguas said. “As only a freshman in college, it is astounding to see how well he stacks up against much older and more experienced players. We are so excited to have Gerald back for the 2018 season.”
Cubero, who completed his freshman season at Rowan College at Burlington County, was a star player for Bound Brook High School, recording 101 career goals and 22 career assists.
