Midfielders Camille Bowen and Jackie Bruno have returned to New Jersey Copa FC for the 2018 United Women’s Soccer season in a row.
Bowen has been a starter for NJCFC and earned player of the match several times in 2017.
“I’m super excited to get started,” Bowen said. “I know the girls are driven, and we’re ready to bring home a championship!”
Last season Bowen was third on the team for minutes played, recording 760 in 10 games while leading the team to a 2017 United Women’s Soccer regular season Championship and a Eastern Conference finalist finish.
“Cam brings an irreplicable energy to our midfield,” head coach Roberto Aguas said. “On and off the field, she is constantly making those around her better and bringing out a lot of laughter all the time. We are so excited to have her back for her third straight year.”
Bruno, the team captain, has played for NJCFC since it’s inaugural season in 2016.
“I’m so excited to be returning to play for Copa,” Bruno said. “These past two seasons have been an amazing experience, and I’m looking forward to another competitive and successful season.”
She started off her career with Copa by leading the team to the first UWS national championship, finishing as finalists. Bruno’s 2016 season earned her a spot on the All-UWS first team. During their sophomore campaign, Bruno, often playing through a nagging ankle injury, helped NJCFC to a Eastern Conference regular season title and conference finalist finish.
“Jackie is one of those players that every coach would do anything to have on their team,” Aguas said. “Not only is her play fantastic, but her leadership and ability to bring together and inspire her teammates is unmatched. Behind her, the team truly feels like there is no obstacle that they can’t get past together.”
