Former Cosmos defender David Ochieng has joined IF Brommapojkarna of the Swedish First Division.

The Kenyan international signed a three-year deal with the club.

The 25-year-old Ochieng, whose contract expired in December, became the fifth Cosmos to find a new team since the end of the 2017 North American Soccer League season.

“I’m grateful to be here,” he told the team’s website. “It’s a good club with good organization and good coach.”

The 6-2, 185-lb. Ochieng started 13 games over 16 matches and 1,230 minutes, scoring one goal.

“I bring a lot of experience from playing in South America and the United States,” he said. “I have played many international matches, both with club teams and national teams.

“I’m used to playing big matches with a lot of audiences, so I can contribute with the experience of it and spread a calm in the group.”

Five of Ochieng’s former Cosmos teammates have found teams.

In December, goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer signed with FC Dallas (Major League Soccer) while defender David Diosa inked a contract with the Real Monarchs (Untied Soccer League) and midfielder Irving Herrera hooked up with FAS in his native El Salvador.

Argentine forward Pablo Vranjicán joined Alianza Petrolera F.C. (Colombia) and midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma has signed with FC Cincinnati (USL).

Head coach Giovanni Savarese has signed on to guide the Portland Timbers (Major League Soccer).
