New York City FC has not secured a spot in the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League, as previous announced by the confederation.

CONCACAF has announced a clarification to the qualifying procedures for U.S.-based clubs to the 2019 competition.

According to CONCACAF, the position designated to the 2017 MLS Cup champion will be awarded to the U.S.-based team not already qualified with the highest aggregate point total at the end of the 2017 and 2018 regular seasons combined.

In December, CONCACAF had announced that NYCFC has earned a berth in next year’s competition.

Toronto FC (Canada) captured the 2017 MLS Cup.
