It’s official.
As reported last week by FrontRowSoccer.com, Red Bulls midfielder Tyler Adams has been called into the U.S. men’s national team for its January training camp.
The Wappingers Falls, N.Y. resident will report to camp in Carson, Calif. Wednesday.
“For me, any chance I get to represent my country is a huge one,” Adams said in a statement. “I think this January camp will be a unique opportunity to integrate some different faces into the national team. That being said, I want to use this opportunity to establish myself day by day and become a regular in the national team, in the present and the future.”
The men will train at the StubHub Center, home of the LA Galaxy, from Thursday through Jan. 27 before facing Bosnia at the StubHub Center Jan. 28.
The 18-year-old Adams will return east to join the Red Bulls in preseason training in Tampa, Fla.
He received his first call-up to November 7 and made his debut in a 1-1 draw with Portugal Nov. 14. Adams started and played the full 90 minutes.
Adams (18 years, 273 days) is the first player born in 1999 to appear for the MNT and is the second youngest to earn a cap in 2017 after Christian Pulisic (18 years, 187 days on March 24, 2017 vs. Honduras), according to U.S. Soccer.
He helped the U.S. Under-20 men’s national team qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup with a CONCACAF U-20 Championship title. He started all five World Cup matches as the Americans reached the quarterfinals.
