New York City FC Monday announced that it will visit Mexico to face Club Atlético de San Luis in a friendly match Tuesday, Feb. 13.
The match, which will be held at Estadio Alfonso Lastras in San Luis Potosí City, will be City’s second exhibition preseason game.
NYCFC will take on the LA Galaxy at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. Saturday, Feb. 10.
“We are looking forward to our friendly against Club Atlético de San Luis which will be one of our first tests of the 2018 season,” NYCFC head coach Patrick Vieira said. “They are a talented team and will provide us with a good environment to continue integrating the new players into our team and building our rhythm on the field.”
Atlético de San Luis returned to competitive football last year with the help of a partnership with Atletico de Madrid and boasted the best average attendance in the Ascenso MX at the Estadio Alfonso Lastras – also the last home venue for Mexican national team in 2018 World Cup qualifying against Trinidad & Tobago.
“For our team, it is a good challenge to face one of the best teams in the United States,” Atlético de San Luis general manager Luis Torres Septien said.
