CHICAGO – Long Island natives Crystal Dunn and Allie Long were among 26 players called into U.S. women’s national team training camp Wednesday afternoon.

They will train at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif. from Jan. 6-21, with an international friendly on that final date that will pit the U.S. against Denmark at San Diego County Credit Union Stadium (4:30 p.m. PT on ESPN).

Dunn, who hails from Rockville Centre, N.Y., and Long, who comes from Northport, N.Y., played with the Albertson Fury.

Twenty-two of the 26 players on the roster earned a cap in 2017, but all trained with the U.S. team at some point last year.

The roster includes many familiar names, including former Sky Blue FC defender Kelley O’Hara, now with Utah Royals FC, Becky Sauerbrunn, Morgan Brian, Julie Ertz, Lindsey Horan, Carli Lloyd, Alex Morgan, Christen Press, Mallory Pugh and Megan Rapinoe.

“We are very much looking forward to getting the group back together,” U.S. head coach Jill Ellis said in a statement. “We’re expecting a competitive and highly energized camp in Los Angeles as we start this important year for the team. We have a few injuries, so we won’t have 100 percent of our core together, but this stretch of testing, training, and a competitive match will provide a good platform to begin 2018.”

The 15-day training camp, which will begin with several physical tests, will be a key evaluation period for Ellis and her staff to choose a squad for the SheBelieves Cup in March as four of the world’s top-six ranked teams – the USA (1), Germany (2), England (3) and France (6) – take on the world’s most elite four-team tournament for the third consecutive year.

Three players would have been on the roster had they not been dealing with injuries. They are forward Tobin Heath (ankle), midfielder Samantha Mewis (knee) and midfielder Rose Lavelle (hamstring). Lavelle will be at the camp for some light training and rehab.
