TINTON FALLS, N.J. – Former Hofstra University standout Leah Galton is heading to Germany.

After spending the past two seasons with Sky Blue FC, Galton has signed with FC Bayern Munich Women of the Frauen-Bundesliga for the 2018, the National Women’s Soccer League team announced Friday morning.

“Sky Blue FC has been not only my team, but also my family for the past two seasons,” Galton said in a statement. “The decision to leave was by far the hardest I have had to make in my career to date.

“Thank you to the Sky Blue FC players, coaches, staff and fans who welcomed me into the team fresh out of college and helped me grow over the past two seasons. I will always be very grateful. I wish the girls all the best this season and look forward to watching Sky Blue FC challenge for the playoffs. Beez up!”

Sky Blue FC drafted Galton with the 13th overall selection in the 2016 NWSL College Draft. In her rookie season, the Harrogate, England, native made 10 starts over 14 appearances, registering three goals and four assists.

In 2017, Galton was sidelined with an injury for a portion of the season and recorded two goals and an assist over 16 matches and six starts.

“First and foremost, we want to thank Leah for everything she has done for our club over the past two seasons,” Sky Blue FC president and general manager Tony Novo said. “We will truly miss Leah, both on and off the field. On behalf of everyone here at Sky Blue FC, we want to wish her all the best in Germany, and we will definitely be her biggest fans from afar.”
