Hofstra University senior forward Kristin Desmond was named to the NCAA Division I women’s All-America third team, the the United Soccer Coaches announced Thursday night.

Desmond, the Colonial Athletic Association player of the year, led the Pride with nine goals and 21 points, with four game-winning goals.

The East Northport, N.Y., native posted a four-game point streak early in conference play, registering 11 points over that span. She also assisted on the game-winner in the final minute at the College of Charleston, securing Hofstra’s unbeaten conference run.

Desmond closes her career in Hofstra’s all-time top 10 for goals and points, becoming the Pride’s fifth All-American and first since Leah Galton earned the honor in 2015.

Forty-one players received All-America recognition this year, led a trio of three-time All-Americans: Georgetown University midfielder Rachel Corboz, Stanford University midfielder Andi Sullivan and University of South Carolina forward Savannah McCaskill.

This year’s All-Americans, along with their families and coaches, will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Luncheon at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Philadelphia Jan. 20.
