The LIU Post men’s coaching staff was named the NCAA Division II men’s East regional staff of the year by the United Soccer Coaches.

Head coach Andreas Lindberg, who was named East Coast Conference coach of the year for the fifth time in seven years, earned his third United Soccer Coaches’ regional staff of the year award in four years.

Lindberg, the Pioneer’s men’s soccer program’s winningest coach, directed the team to a 17-0-2 regular season mark as LIU Post won its third consecutive conference title.

After earning an automatic bid into the second round of the NCAA Division II tournament, LIU Post faced the University of the District of Columbia for the third time this season and recorded a 2-1 win. After defeating Adelphi, the men’s soccer team captured its third East Region title in four years.

The LIU Post staff will be honored at the college coaches awards reception at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Independence ballroom in conjunction with the 71st annual United Soccer Coaches convention Jan. 18.

The Regional Staff of the Year recipients will be placed on the United Soccer Coaches ballot for national staff of the year consideration within their respective division. The ballot also will include coaching staffs from any schools which advance to the semifinals of their NCAA championship.

Voting for national staff of the year will run from Dec. 5-12. United Soccer Coaches will announce the men’s and women’s national staff of the year for all NCAA divisions Dec. 19.
