DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. — Haley Noble scored the first goal and set up the second one to lead second-seeded Mercy College to a 2-0 victory over No. 4 LIU Post in the NCAA Division II East women’s final at Mercy Field Friday afternoon.
The Pioneers, who reached the third round for the first time in 10 years, finished their season at 17-4-1.
Noble gave the Mavericks (18-3) all the scoring they needed in the 12th minute as she scored at the left post.
She turned playmaker in the 81st minute, crossing the ball into the box to Heidi Serna, who headed it in for a two-goal advantage.
LIU Post outshot the hosts, 15-7.
Mercy will meet West Chester (17-3-2), the top seed in the Atlantic Region, in Sunday’s noon quarterfinal and a spot in the NCAA D-II Final Four.
In the first game of Friday’s doubleheader, the Golden Rams registered a 2-0 victory over East Stroudsburg (15-4-4).
