The Independent Review Panel Thursday denied appeals for Red Bulls midfielder Sacha Kljestan and Toronto FC forward Jozy Altidore for their red cards that were incurred during the second leg of their MLS Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series.

Kljestan and Altidore were issued red cards for violent conduct during an altercation in the players tunnel in first-half stoppage time of the Nov. 5 match at BMO Field in Toronto.

Altidore will serve his one-game suspension in the first leg of the conference final against Columbus Crew SC Nov. 21, while Kljestan will serve his one-game ban in his first match of the 2018 Major League Soccer regular season.

The Independent Panel consists of one representative from the United States Soccer Federation, one representative from the Canadian Soccer Association and one representative from the Professional Referee Organization.

Each club is entitled to two unsuccessful appeals per season, including playoffs. Toronto FC has one unsuccessful appeal remaining for this season.
