Regardless what transpires in Sunday’s MLS Eastern Conference semifinal second leg against Columbus Crew SC, New York City FC defender Ronald Matarrita and forward Rodney Wallace know they will have at least two more soccer games this year.
Both players have been called up to the Costa Rica national team by head coach Oscar Ramirez for two international friendlies.
The Ticos, with have eight Major League Soccer players on their 23-man roster, will play at Spain Nov. 11 and will visit Hungary Nov. 14.
NYCFC enters Sunday’s 5 p.m. encounter at Yankee Stadium on the short end of a 4-1 scoreline in the aggregate-goals series after dropping the opening leg in Columbus Tuesday night.
