WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. –In its final match of the regular season, the Monmouth University men recorded a 4-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory over Niagara University Wednesday.

Three Hawks scored their first career goal, including sophomores Ryan Wells and George Akampeke and freshman Jake Treiber.

Sophomore Geoffrey Schaefer scored his fifth career goal in the fourth minute to give Monmouth (7-9-2, 4-5-1) a 1-0 lead against Niagara (2-14-2, 1-8-1).

“It was a great way for the seniors to finish their careers,” head coach Robert McCourt said. “I am eternally grateful to them for their commitment to our program. They have had amazing careers.”

Senior goalkeeper Chris Seager registered his second consecutive win and shutout.

Senior Jake Areman dished his team-leading fifth assist of the season on Schaefer’s goal, and ended the season as the team leader in points with 11. Senior Colin Stripling also picked up an assist in his final game, as he ended his Monmouth career with 15 goals and nine assists for 39 points.
