NEW YORK – Major League Soccer Tuesday announced that goalkeeper Luis Robles was a finalist for MLS WORKS humanitarian of the year.

The three finalists are Ryan Hollingshead (FC Dallas), Matt Lampson (Chicago Fire) and Robles.

The winner will be announced Thursday.

This year, Robles again served as the spokesman for Tackle Kids Cancer, and hosted a dinner that raised over $105,000, with all of the money raised set to go directly to research to end childhood cancer.

The goalkeeper also donated $10,000 of his own money to charitable causes, made monthly visits to children’s hospitals, volunteered at clinics and programs for underprivileged children and participated in community efforts on behalf of the Red Bulls.

This is the second consecutive season Robles has been named a finalist.
