HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Hofstra University men came back from a 1-0 deficit to earn a 2-1 overtime victory over UNCW in the Pride’s Colonial Athletic Association finale at Hofstra Soccer Stadium Saturday night.

The Pride (4-5-6, 3-1-4) has clinched a spot in the CAA Tournament for the sixth consecutive year. After coming into the game in first place, UNCW dropped its fourth straight contest to fall to 9-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play, dropping to third place.

Sophomore Luke Brown had a hand in both of the Pride’s goals. After the Seahawks opened the scoring in the 61st minute on Phillip Goodrum’s rebound goal, Brown took a shot that deflected out to senior Mani Walcott, who put away the equalizer in the 80th minute to force extratime.

Less than four minutes into overtime, Brown settled a cross from senior Jon Fraser and tucked away a blast into the upper right corner from about seven yards.

Junior goalkeeper Alex Ashton made four saves.

Hofstra has two non-conference games remaining, beginning with a trip to Binghamton Wednesday at 7 p.m.
