JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Monmouth University women closed their regular season schedule with a 2-1 extratime victory over hOURglass rival Saint Peter’s in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at Jaroschak Field Saturday.

Monmouth improved to 12-3-2, 9-1-0 while Saint Peter’s dropped to 3-11-1, 1-7-1.

“We started the season 0-2-1, so to finish with a 12-3-2 record is terrific,” Monmouth head coach Krissy Turner said. “We look forward to heading down to Disney next week to compete for a championship.”

Maddie Gibson scored in the 99th minute off an Alli DeLuca assist. It was Gibson’s fifth goal of the year and the 16th of her career. It also was her fifth career game-winning goal.

The Hawks fell behind in the 23rd minute when Barbara Paiva scored for the home team. Monmouth found the equalizer a couple minutes before halftime when Lexie Palladino’s run set up LeAnne Davis for her second goal this year.

The Hawks will open the MAAC Tournament with a quarterfinal match against the winner of the No. 8 Niagara vs. No. 9 Canisius game at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The game will be played on Field 17 of the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and will be broadcast live on WatchESPN.
