Sean Johnson was outstanding once again for NYCFC. (Mike DiNovo/USA TODAY Sports)

Sean Johnson, who made several spectacular saves to keep New York City FC within striking distance of the New England Revolution in its 2-1 defeat Sunday, was named the FrontRowSoccer.com’s player of the week Monday.

The veteran goalkeeper was honored for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 15.

It was the third time since mid-August that Johnson earned the honor.

Johnson made eight saves to keep City afloat in a game in which the squad played a man down after Jack Harrison was red-carded in the 26th minute.

The NYCFC keeper’s memorable stop came when denied Krisztian Nemeth in first-half stoppage time.

Johnson also made a sprawling save on Kei Kamara in the 77th minute.
