HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Hofstra University freshman Bella Richards has been named the Colonial Athletic Association player of the week, the conference announced Monday.
Richards netted the game-winning goal in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Elon College that clinched the regular-season title for the Pride. She was relentless on the play, firing home a rebound amidst a flurry of shots. Richards played all but five minutes in a 2-0 week for Hofstra, which included a significant win over defending CAA champion Northeastern, firing over seven shots on the week. With her goal on Sunday, Richards has six points in her past four games.
The honor marks the Pride’s third consecutive week with a CAA award.
The victory extended Hofstra’s win streak to nine games as it moved to 8-0 in CAA play. After clinching the regular-season title, the Pride will host the CAA semifinals and championship Nov. 3 and 5, respectively.
