COUVA, Trinidad — U.S. head coach Bruce Arena expects Christian Pulisic to play in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Trinidad & Tobago after his standout midfielder received a hard knock last week.
Pulisic, who recorded a goal and an assist in the 4-0 win over Panama Friday, has had his fitness monitored after suffering a knock in that game after being fouled several times at Orlando City Stadium.
“I can’t protect him,” said Arena, who said he was impressed at how Pulisic had responded to physical play, according to Agence France-Presse.
“He does handle it very well. That’s why he’s been successful. He gets back on his feet and continues to play.”
