TOWSON, Md. – The Hofstra University women cruised to a 3-0 victory over Towson at the Tiger Soccer Complex to stay undefeated in Colonial Athletic Association play Thursday afternoon.

The Pride (9-3-2, 5-0-0) has now won six consecutive matches and is unbeaten in its past eight games. Towson dropped to 4-8-2 and 1-3 in CAA.

This is Hofstra’s longest win streak since stringing together 18 straight victories in 2010.

Hofstra scored three goals for the second straight game and again got them from three different goal scorers.

Sophomore Maya Watkins put away her first of the season with eight seconds left in the first half to give the Pride a 1-0 lead. Junior Madeline Anderson sent in a free kick from past the midfield line, which sophomore Rachel Cardinal tapped to Watkins in the box for Cardinal’s first career point.

Senior Kristin Desmond extended her goal-scoring streak to four successive games, beating the Towson goalkeeper with a high shot on the near side in the 66th minute. Freshman Bella Richards capped the win with her first career goal in the 83rd minute on senior Ashley Batista’s first Hofstra assist.

The Pride out shot the Tigers, 27-7.

The Pride continues CAA action, hosting James Madison University at 1 p.m. at Hofstra Soccer Stadium Sunday at 1 p.m.
