The Cosmos will be without three El Salvadoran internationals and one Canadian national team player this weekend.
Midfielders Richard Menjivar, Irvin Herrera and Andrés Flores have been called in to represent El Salvador in its international friendly against Canada at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston Sunday at 5 p.m.
Dejan Jakovic will suit up for the Canadians.
A 32-year-old defender, Jakovic made his international debut in January 2008 and has made 39 appearances. He played in three games during the CONCACAF Gold Cup. He scored his first international goal in Canada’s 4-2 Gold Cup victory over French Guiana.
Flores, 27, assisted on the Cosmos’ only goal in Sunday’s 1-0 North American Soccer League victory over Puerto Rico FC. He made his senior team debut as a 17-year-old in 2008. Menjivar, 26, began represent his country at the U-23 level before making his senior team debut in 2013. Herrera, 26, debuted for El Salvador in 2015 and has scored twice internationally.
The Cosmos will visit Indy Eleven in a rematch of last season’s Championship Final Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
