EDISON, N.J. – Two Monmouth University women earned weekly awards from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Monday afternoon.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Knaub was named the defensive player of the week and senior forward Rachelle Ross earned offensive player of the week honors.

Knuab posted consecutive shutouts in Monmouth’s 2-0 week, including wins over Rider University and Quinnipiac University. She made one save against the Broncs, a game in which Monmouth won 1-0, before totaling three saves at Quinnipiac. Knaub secured her eighth shutout of the season and her 17th career clean sheet and has not allowed a goal in 8:20:55, a span of six matches.

Ross scored twice in the first half of Monmouth’s 2-0 victory over the Bobcats, the first meeting between the two sides since last season’s MAAC Championship match. Ross scored 1:10 into the game and netted the fastest goal for Monmouth since Oct. 23, 2013 when Julie Spracklin scored 25 seconds into the match at Saint Peter’s. The senior forward recorded her fifth career multi-goal game and helped Monmouth win its fourth consecutive match. The team is also unbeaten in its last eight contests (7-0-1) overall. Ross has four goals on the season and 24 for her career and with 66 career points, Ross is tied with Barbara Callaghan (1985-88) for 14th in program history.

The Hawks are unbeaten in 18 consecutive MAAC matches (17-0-1) and have outscored their opponents 59-6 during the winning streak. In addition, the Blue and White improved their five-year MAAC record to 39-2-3 and earned their 29th shutout in 44 games.

Monmouth resumes its three-match road trip at Iona College Wednesday at 3 p.m.

The match will be broadcast live on WatchESPN.
