Not only can Daniel Royer play for the Red Bulls against D.C. United Wednesday, he is in a position to start.

“We can consider him to start,” Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch said. “He’s doing well. He’ll be in the 18.”

Royer received a thumb’s up for Major League Soccer action Monday. He will be able to play since suffering a hyper-extended right knee in a 3-2 defeat to New York City FC Aug. 6.

At the time of his injury, Royer was red-hot for the Red Bulls. He has accrued 10 goals and two assists in 22 matches and was named the MLS player of the month for July.

Since Royer suffered the injury, the Red Bulls are 2-2-4 in all competitions.
