WASHINGTON, D.C. – Despite freshman goalkeeper Antonia Tammaro making a season-high eight saves against No. 15 Georgetown University, the St. John’s women dropped a 1-0 Big East decision at Shaw Field Sunday afternoon.

Georgetown (7-2-1, 1-0-0) outshot St. John’s (4-5-1, 0-1-0), 17-3, and maintained possession throughout most of the match.

Caitlin Farrell scored the game’s lone goal in the 81st minute when she intercepted a goal kick from Tammaro. Farrell took a long shot from distance that tucked inside the far post past a diving Tammaro.

St. John’s hosts Creighton University at Belson Stadium Thursday at 7 p.m. on the Big East Digital Network.
