STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Freshman Le’la Allen’s first collegiate goal was not enough, as the Wagner College women fell to the University of Hartford, 4-1, at Hameline Field Thursday night.

The Seahawks dropped to 3-4-2 with one non-conference match remaining while Hartford improved to 4-5-1.

The Hawks took a 2-0 halftime lead on two goals by Kaila Lozada, which were both assisted by Sierra Stone.

In the second half, the Hawks doubled their lead on back-to-back goals by Bridgette Alexander, before the Seahawks answered with Allen’s score in the 70th minute. Allen scored off a feed from junior Sandra Battista, depositing the ball into the net from close range in a sequence that was triggered by a long throw-in from sophomore Kaela Schrier.

Wagner sophomore goalkeeper Delaney Beck made five saves, falling to 2-2-1.

The Seahawks travel to Manhattan College to meet Columbia Saturday at 3 p.m. before kicking off Northeast Conference play at home vs. LIU Brooklyn Oct. 1.
